Prudence Mahrer, Owner/Operator

In 2007 we built  Ruby Blues Winery, after selling Red Rooster Winery. I enjoy running a small boutique-style winery, with the goal to produce and sell locally. We work hard to not become big.

I enjoy working in the vineyards. In early summer you will see me selecting and tucking shoots. And in all these 25 years I have never missed one harvest day! So wave to the vineyard workers when you drive in to our place, it might be me.

You also can meet me at the farmer’s market selling wine out of our 1968 VW bus, or especially on Saturdays at the winery – I love to entertain customers alongside our fantastic wine shop crew.

Beat Mahrer, Vineyard Manager

Along with Prudence, Beat is the co-owner of Ruby Blues Winery. He is our Vineyard Manager but in reality, he is the Ruby Blues MacGyver. Otherwise known as the winery Swiss Army Knife. He takes care of what needs to be done, he is our fixer.

Graham Pierce, Winemaker

Graham has an extensive knowledge of the Okanagan wine region in addition to his experience in the winery operations. This works in tandem with his comprehensive viticulture and winemaking background. Pierce is British Columbia born and bred, growing up in Horseshoe Bay.

He joined the Okanagan wine industry in 1997 when he joined Summerhill Pyramid Winery as culinary director after several successful years spent in and around the Vancouver restaurant scene. At Summerhill he discovered a passion and interest in both winemaking and viticulture.

While studying winemaking at Okanagan University College he worked as assistant winemaker at Mt. Boucherie Estate Winery before progressing to head winemaker in 2003. A unique opportunity came up in 2008 as the Winemaker at Black Hills Estate Winery in Oliver, BC. He worked there for ten extraordinarily successful years before joining Time Winery as Director of Wine. This was followed by a two-year stint directing the winemaking and viticulture at Kitsch Wines in Kelowna.
